Production Chef Level 2 Apprenticeship

The Combe Grove Estate came under the guardianship of the Elmhurst Foundation Charitable Trust in March 2017 with 3 principle aims to practice and increase knowledge in the field of health and wellbeing, create 90 high-quality enhanced apprenticeships and to share facilities and expertise for the benefit of the local community.

Our stunning location informs all that we do. Located within 70 acres of woodland and meadow, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Bath. The Team combines the latest medical research with the restorative power of nature to help those who pass through the Estate to reconnect with the primary needs of mind and body and leave with a greater sense of wellness, increased vitality and a sense of restored calm.

The Role

We are actively recruiting for a Level 2 Production Chef apprentice to join our amazing team. You will be part of the dynamic and high-performing Combe Grove team who deliver the pioneering Metabolic Health programmes.

Reporting to and mentored by the Head chef you will produce seasonal, nutritionally balanced meals that are both flavourful and nourishing to health, complying to recipe specifications and budgetary constraints.

Applying techniques for the preparation, cooking and presentation of dishes you will understand and apply the importance of organisational specifications and consistency in food production.

Using knowledge of key nutrient groups, their function and main food sources you will also understand the importance of sustainability and protection of the environment. You will undertake focussed training on metabolic health and use produce grown in our no-dig Kitchen Garden.

Highly motivated with a dedication to continued personal development and a passion for health and wellbeing you have a special interest in nutrition and how it influences health.

Demonstrating highly methodical organisational skills, energy, and attention to detail you are solutions focussed and experienced in working calmly under pressure, leading by example in an emphatic, fair and consistently professional manner.

You are positive and dependable with a commitment to maintaining high standards and integrity with strong time management skills, demonstrating reliability and punctuality.

You have a proven track record of exceptional interpersonal skills to motivate a team and provide the highest standards.

Subsidised treatments and therapies provided by the on-site team using pure, organic products from the South West of England with selected medicinal herbs and aromas to support the therapeutic benefit of treatments.

30 days annual leave each year pro-rata

On site Car-Parking and bicycle racks. You may want your own transport to the Estate as public transport is limited

Hours and Duration

Working time

Total 40 hours excluding breaks each week, working eight hours between 07:00-20:00, working five days a week across Monday to Sunday, according to team rota.

Salary

Performance related salary increases will apply to this apprenticeship upon successful completion of each stage as follows

Internship – up to £24,000

Enrolment Entry salary – for the first 3 months from enrolment £14,000

Probation Review – for the remaining 9 months of year 1 £14,500

Gateway – 3 months to prepare for the End Point Assessment, up to £24,000

Combe Grove Career Coaching – 3 months of career coaching £24,000
