Health and safety policy
Combe Grove is owned by The Elmhurst Foundation. The Elmhurst Foundation Incorporated Charitable Company (The Elmhurst Foundation ICC), regards the promotion of Health and Safety measures as a mutual objective for management at all levels and recognises its duty to comply with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated regulations. The Elmhurst Foundation ICC will strive to:
- Ensure the health, safety and welfare of all team members whilst at work, so far as is reasonably practicable
- Provide and maintain machinery, plant and equipment that is in a safe condition and without risks to health, so far as is reasonably practicable
- Provide information and adequate resource to ensure that safe systems of work are operated, so far as is reasonably practicable
- Establish arrangements for the safety and absence of risk to health in connection with the use, handling, storage and transport of articles and substances, so far as is reasonably practicable
- Provide information, instruction, training and supervision, to a level that is necessary to ensure the health and safety of team members at work, so far as is reasonably practicable
- Ensure that any workplace, under the control of The Elmhurst Foundation ICC, is maintained in a condition that is safe and without risk to health, so far as is reasonably practicable
- Ensure that any point of access or egress, under the control of The Elmhurst Foundation ICC, is maintained in a condition that is safe and without risk to health, so far as is reasonably practicable
- Provide and maintain a working environment for the team members of The Elmhurst Foundation ICC that is safe, without risks to health and has adequate facilities and arrangements for their welfare whilst at work, so far as is reasonably practicable
- Conduct all work activities in such a way so as to ensure that persons who may be affected and are not in the employment of The Elmhurst Foundation ICC are not exposed to risks to their health and safety, so far as is reasonably practicable
- Ensure swift investigation in the event of any accident or incident and take appropriate action, dependent on the findings, so far as is reasonably practicable
- Ensure that there are suitable and sufficient arrangements for the continued review and monitoring of the health and safety management system to ensure that there is an active and ongoing commitment to continuous improvement.
To ensure this policy is effective, the company will:
- Produce specific policy documents to implement this statement
- Review the policy at least annually, or when significant changes are made to policies or procedures
- Make the policy known to all team members and interested parties on request
- Make any amendments known to team members. Team members should continue to refer to these and carry out their work in accordance with the prescribed health and safety procedures, safe systems of work and guidelines within the policy documents
- Maintain procedures for communication and consultation between all team members and contractors by bringing this policy and our health and safety management system to the notice of all our team members through induction, continued workplace training, reviews, committee meeting notes displayed throughout our establishments and, where appropriate, by electronic access.
