Jules is well known to many members as she is part of the studio team, delivering dynamic classes that inspire and drive, as well as working with the instructors to deliver a varied and interesting class timetable.
We want Combe to be more than just a place to work out, swim or play tennis and Jules responsible for developing the social side of the club, with a lively calendar of events and activities. Track her down for a chat and share your ideas!
Angela Roberts is a long-term student of yoga and it continues to enrich and inspire her life. She has been teaching yoga since the 1990s and runs yoga classes in and around Bath. She is an accredited British Wheel of Yoga teacher, a Senior Yoga Alliance registered teacher and a Yoga Sports Coach. She is also co-director and teacher trainer on the 200 hour, Yoga Alliance registered, Yoga Bodhi Teacher Training Course held in Bath and a Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs teacher. Angela specialises in personalised programmes for both fitness and therapy.
Annie first fell in love with yoga whilst travelling in Asia, and over the last 10 years has developed a fluid, creative style of teaching, specialising in Led Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow and Yin Yoga in her weekly classes. She has taught clients privately for many years and thrives on the personal & intense nature of this one to one work.
Barry has been an Instructor at Combe Grove for over 25 years and worked in the Gym from 1990-1997. Barry now teaches studio classes. Step with basic choreography and high intensity, Boxercise and Bodypump. Barry is also a qualified Chartered Physiotherapist who has worked in Elite Sport for 15 years. Barry has a special interest in Core stability and Myofascial release, for his MSc Barry completed a research project on automatics stabilisation of the spine which was later published.
Carolyn is a 200hr Yoga Alliance UK registered teacher, her love of yoga and creative movement is demonstrated in her classes through thoughtful sequencing and attention to alignment. With emphasis on synchronising breath and movement to bring body and mind into balance, Carolyn’s classes combine uplifting flow sequences which encourage strength and flexibility with relaxing restorative postures, pranayama and meditation promoting a deeper connection to yourself and an overall sense of wellbeing.
Charley has been teaching classes since 2009. A participant turned instructor, she understands what it is like to be new in class! At Combe Grove, Charley teaches Les Mills BODYATTACK, BODYPUMP, BODY BALANCE and Grit Series. Her focus is on functional, safe, fun classes that will increase your physical and mental fitness. Charley is a full time post-graduate student at the University of Bath investigating mental health and exercise.
Chris teaches Sh’bam & BodyAttack here at Combe Grove. Chris also teaches BodyPump & BodyStep. Chris has been teaching group fitness classes since 2010 & enjoy bringing fun to your group exercise experience.
Christian is a father of two young sons, and now lives and works in the Bath area as a sports professional. He is a Level 4 Sports Massage Therapist, Personal Trainer, and a Yoga Alliance registered 200 hours yoga teacher after qualifying in Bali with Santosha Yoga Institute. His approach to yoga is grounded in a BSc(Hons) Applied Sports Science degree and delivered with a confidence acquired after serving as a British Army Officer. His flowing practice is accessible to all and heavily steeped in a positive and motivational energy that is focused on developing your breath, whilst stretching and strengthening your body.
Craig is on hand to provide one to one coaching and group lessons. He has been coaching at the club for years. Craig is welcoming and a very encouraging coach and can help you with anything from your serves to singles or doubles tactics and play.
A trained dancer and performer, Debby studied at London Studio Centre and has performed professionally throughout the UK and worldwide.
Debby has taught dance related exercise classes to adults and children in the Bath area since 1990, she loves the joy and fun that music brings to exercise. She teaches Zumba and a Sunday Stretch class at Combe Grove. Classes are suitable for all. Just bring a smile and you will enjoy great music, get fitter, look leaner and learn a few dance moves along the way.
Gabrielle is our Combe Grove Pilates instructor. She studied at the highly regarded Scott studio and is an IPTA member. Her Qualification and love of Pilates lead Gaby to develop her Personal Styling company, Voila Styling in to more of a lifestyle brand offering her clients a complete view of their whole image inside and out. Pilates involves a series of controlled movements that target specific muscles to address muscle imbalance and realign your body. This helps your muscles and joints return to their optimum functional state to regain strength and flexibility. Gradually you will start to feel lighter and taller, use muscles more effectively and improve your range of movement.
Jackie originally trained to teach aerobic exercise in California, where she lived and worked in LA studios for three years. She was a pioneer for aerobics in the UK and after teaching at the Body Shop Dance studios in London and Brighton, ran her own exercise and dance studio, The Energy Store, in Brighton. She then moved to Bath and has been instructing at Combe Grove for 30 years!
Jackie is very interested in health & wellbeing on a holistic level and has also worked as a psychotherapist. She holds qualifications in teaching and coaching exercise and has an MSc in counselling.
Juliet has been a member at Combe Grove since relocating to Bradford-on-Avon from Wales 23 years ago. Three sons and a dog later she is still captivated by the breathtaking views of the Limpley Stoke Valley.
Juliet took part in her first Zumba class here over 6 years ago and was instantly addicted to the eclectic mix of music and dance styles both familiar and from around the world. She has been teaching Zumba here since early 2015. It really has started a revolution; introducing a whole new audience to a different type of exercise that is fun and benefits both body and soul.
Kay is a Combe Grove Pilates Instructor. She has a background in Sport and Exercise Science BSc and trained with the APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute). Her qualifications and love of exercise led her to develop a style of Pilates which can be tailored to all abilities, and is protective of the back and spine. Kay’s Pilates is beneficial for those looking for injury rehabilitation, lower back problems, strengthening and toning.
Melissa has over 20 years’ experience in the health and fitness industry went to performing arts college at 19 and since then has been performing, lecturing, studio coordinating, teaching a variety of classes from dance to baby yoga, personal training and working in gyms. Melissa believes small changes equals big results and loves helping people achieve their goals.
Mirella Luciani started her career as a fitness instructor at Combe Grove. She has gone on to specialise in Zumba, Pilates, Yoga, Fitsteps and Aqua.
Mirella has always enjoyed sports, fitness and fun. When she discovered yoga in 2007 she was amazed by the many different aspects yoga incorporates. Mirella trained in Ashtanga and Hatha yoga in India, and has since completed many courses in Kriya and Flow yoga in the UK and Italy. Her passion for the discipline has enabled her to deepen her understanding and knowledge and to travel to India to experience the real thing. Since her training she has learned so much more than she believed possible and is ready to learn more!
Nikki has been teaching fitness and exercise classes for the past 30 years; the last 15 years at Combe Grove. She has experience in Cardiac Rehabilitation, GP Referral, Aqua Fitness, Conditioning and Body Balance. Nikki is a stickler for technique but likes to inject a sense of fun into each class. Outside of fitness you will often see Nikki with a dog at her side as she is a qualified Guide Dog trainer, now training pet dogs. Nikki says “dogs and fitness is a wonderful balance of health and nature”.
Richard is a level 3 qualified fitness coach. Whether you need to improve athletic performance, alter body composition or want to pick up your grandchildren with ease, Richard will teach you how to move efficiently and competently under load. Richard knows bad positioning and compromised movement have the higher potential for injury. Richard will enjoys working with members to ensure that they are fit for life.
You will find Rita the studio on a Sunday morning where we rock out some Sh’Bam and find our zen in Body Balance. Rita also teaches Bodystep, Bodyattack, Bodycombat and Bodypump. Rita is a Les Mills fan, and has been teaching group exercise for 26 years and more recently have become an official mentor for newer instructors.
Sharon has worked in the fitness industry for almost 20 years and holds a diploma in Health & Fitness which includes a Level-3 Personal Trainers award. The diploma covers group exercise to music, step, and circuit training, amongst other modules. She is also qualified to teach a variety of Les Mills programmes and spin classes.
She is an avid cyclist and has taken on many challenges outside of the UK. She loves the fitness industry and has spent many years working in large fitness clubs, including Combe Grove. She is very friendly and approachable, so please say hello when you see her around.
