Look up, marvel at the ephemeral beauty, and always remember to live life with your head in the clouds!
With his entertaining talk, and beautiful images captured by the global community of Cloud Appreciation Society members, Gavin Pretor-Pinney teaches us to become cloudspotters and read the sky. From the common cumulus and the dramatic cumulonimbus to the rare and fleeting ‘fluctus’ cloud, these bundles of water vapour teach us much about the science of the wild blue yonder.
Gavin shows us the value of engaging with the sky and reveals why cloudspotting is the perfect antidote to pressures of the digital world. Looking up will never be the same again!
A one-hour talk, plus Q&A, will be followed by a short walk into the Combe Grove grounds so you can test your new identification skills.
We recommend bringing cosy, waterproof clothing and footwear just in case the clouds on the day are of the precipitating variety.
The talk will be held in the Garden Lodge. Follow our driveway past the Manor House building. Continue on between the pillars and you’ll find the Garden Lodge on the left. From here, follow the signs.
