Last week, Apprenticeship providers and employers across the country celebrated National Apprenticeship Week 2018. With talks, conferences, networking and fairs taking place, some of our apprentices headed off to showcase their experiences and encourage more young people to consider an apprenticeship.
Personnel apprentice, Freya and her mentor Sue, attended the Bath College Future Apprenticeships and Jobs Fair at The Bath Assembly Rooms. Along with many other local businesses, Freya and Sue met lots of excited students exploring the next steps of their education journeys. It was wonderful to meet the next generation of geniuses and to share Combe Grove’s vision and apprenticeship programme. You may have spotted Freya and Sue on Sunday Politics West, speaking about the benefits of ‘earning while you learn’!
Our Marketing Apprentice and member of the Young Apprentice Ambassadors Network (YAAN), Jenna, travelled to The National Gallery on International Women’s Day to hear from some inspiring women discussing the importance of encouraging more women into apprenticeships. The Director of the National Apprenticeship Service, Sue Husband shared an inspiring story about her career and Anne Milton, the Minister of State for Apprenticeships and Skills, discussed the government’s plans for encouraging more people into apprenticeships. A number of apprentices, from management and scientists to engineers and human resources spoke about their careers and the opportunities they would not have received had they opted for a different route.
