September is for fresh starts and new beginnings. It’s time to head back to school and welcome the university freshers to our great city, time to enjoy the last of the balmy summer evenings and get ready to embrace the cosiness of Autumn. Whether you’re arriving in Bath for the first time, or returning for the beginning of term, there is plenty happening in the city to help welcome in the new season. From 8th to 17th September 2017
To celebrate the 200th anniversary since Jane Austen’s death, the Jane Austen Festival is set to be bigger and better than before. From 8th September 2017, the streets will fill with regency-costumed fans, celebrating one of Bath’s most famous literary figures. With promenades, readings, tours, workshops, costumed balls and much more, the 9-day festival will celebrate and educate even the most dedicated Janeite.
23rd September – 8th October 2017
Our restaurant at Combe Grove serves a variety of locally-sourced, seasonal dishes and we’re looking forward to showcasing these at the Great Bath Feast, a celebration of Bath’s fantastic food offering, local producers, artisans and chefs. Restaurants across Bath (including us!) are offering a ‘Tenner Treat’ throughout the festival, So, come and enjoy two courses with a spectacular view at Combe Grove for just £10. 29th September – 8th October 2017
September is the time to settle back into the school routine, but don’t get too comfortable because the Bath Children’s Literature Festival 2017 begins on 29th September and there are more than 120 events taking place this year. The programme is brimming with opportunities for children to meet their favourite authors, try their hand at illustration and find out about the inspiration behind some of their most-loved stories. With authors such as Julia Donaldson, Cressida Cowell and Jacqueline Wilson, the grown-ups will want to join in as well!

Why not perfect the art of getting ‘cosy’ and join a restorative Hygge Yoga mini retreat this September? YOGADOO’s last summer Hygge instalment takes place on 9th September here at Combe Grove. Inspired by nature, enjoy a Vinyasa Flow yoga session, woodland meditation topped off with a delicious picnic prepared by our chef. And your day doesn’t have to end there, you are welcome to make use of Combe Grove’s facilities including pool, sauna and steam room before or after the retreat. If you can’t make the September session don’t worry – Winter Hygge returns from October onwards.

16th to 24th September 2017
Bathscape’s first ever Walking Festival is taking place from Sunday 16th to Sunday 24th September. With more than 20 walks in and around Bath, it’s a great way to experience our glorious landscape, heritage and of course, the magnificent views! Nearly all the activities are free and open to the public, or, if you fancy putting your efforts to a good cause, Julian House are organising a sponsored walk, find more information here. So why not explore a different part of the city, from Somer Valley and Carr’s Wood to Little Solsbury Hill, there are some breath-taking spots to be found.
